Trash Talk are one of my favorite bands in hardcore right now and are about to release a new 7″ entitled “East of Eden.” I’m also hyped, to say the least, that they are coming to boulder on april 8th for a show in the UMC with the Bronx. So don’t be afraid, broaden your horizon a little bit and check these guys out.

I’m sure no one has noticed (because no one reads this) but I have been taking a bit of an hiatus from the bligity-blog. I’ve actually been training lately, riding lots of XC and struggling to sharpen up on my dirt jumping skills, which along with school has been keeping me pretty busy. Anyway, I’m going to make a conscious effort to continue to write. So, here’s a couple of songs that have been getting me through my days lately:
1. Yeah Yeah Yeahs- Dudley
I’ve been a big fan of The Yeah Yeah Yeahs for a while now, and this is one of my favorite songs by them. The weird intro stuff kind of reminds me of that super creepy scene from Silence of the Lambs where Buffalo Bill tucks it in and dances in front of the mirror. Fucking weird reference, I know. Here’s the scene I’m talking about:
Anyway, I’m super pumped for their new release which should be out any time now. Here’s a shitty video of a live performance of the song Dudley:
2. Talking Heads- Life During Wartime (Stop Making Sense version)
“This aint no party! This aint no disco!” Enough said.
3. TV on the Radio- Halfway Home
This entire album has been looping through my speakers recently, and I still haven’t gotten sick of it. In my opinion this was the best album of 2008, and this track really stands out to me. TV on the Radio has released their fair share of gems, and this is definitely one of them in my book. At the beginning the song lacks a catchy hook, but as it progresses the sound deepens, and then it really hits hard when the tempo increases towards the end. Sorry I couldn’t find a better video.
4. Silversun Pickups- Lazy Eye
Awesome song, awesome video, awesome band, awesome awesome awesome (enough?). The Silversun Pickups 2006 release Carnavas quickly became one of my favorite new albums last year, and after it was featured in John Rylnolds 2008 Slow Motion Montage my love for this track was revitalized. Just a great sound, with two distinctly different tones from the vocalist (Sonic Youth style), Smashing Pumpkins style distortion and great musicianship. Great track.
That’s it for today. Schools about done, and then Vegas for Spring Break. Expect a couple updates and hopefully some pics.
