The first AMA Motocross National of 2010 took place this weekend at Hangtown, and rookie Eli Tomac took the 250 win going 3/1. Tomac is the son of mountain biking legend John Tomac, who absolutely dominated the sport back in the day. Pretty impressive Eli can come out and win his first ever pro race, and at 17 and hailng from the great state of Colorado, it’s impossible not to root for this kid.

Both the 250 and 450 outdoors should provide some entertaining racing this year. All for now.

I have recently come down with a nasty bug and am pretty much reduced to bed rest for the next couple of days. That, combined with the concoction of narcotics I’ve been prescribed, has led me to be the most unproductive human being in recent history. But, I’ve had some ample interneting time. Here’s a new music video from The XX.

Sea Otter is over, and I’ll have some shitty write up in the near future (probably not). But while I’m sitting here in San Jose International Airport I have been blessed with a pleaseant surprise. Broken Social Scene has begun streaming their entire new album, entitled ‘Forgiveness Rock Record,’ free and legally through NPR. Check it out here. Seriously do yourself a favor and give this album a thorough listening. It’s amazing.

Back to Boulder today, thank God. Sea Otter was fun, but I’m ready to be home and see my peps.

All for now, more later. But seriously, listen to Broken Social Scene.

This year at Sea Otter…
April 13, 2010, 10:39 pm

This year at the ol’ Sea Otter Classic Im looking forward to a number of things. They are:

1) Racing Slalom

I’ve never raced Sea Otter slalom, but I’ve always enjoyed spectating. This year I’m looking to get in on the action and slam some gates. The slalom track is looking pretty good too. Check it here:

Vital MTB Sea Otter Slalom Preview

2) Calamari

My favorite thing about the Otter is all the disgusting food around the pits. Just a quick jaunt to the food court and it’s squid heaven. I’m going to try and limit myself to three baskets of deep fried cephalopod this year.

3) New bikes/Kits

Everyone comes to Sea Otter to show off their fancy new threads, and Team Sol Vista is no exception. Our bikes look amazing this year, and our kits are the best we’ve had yet. Nothing gets me more excited for the year than fresh gear. Pics of the team and the bike soon to come

4) Improvement

Pulling a good result at the Otter is tough as hell. Everyone who is anyone shows up for the event, and the track is a pedaling nightmare. The past two years my results steadily improved at the race, and I’m hoping to continue the trend this year. I haven’t had much time to train too hard with school and extracurricular activities lately, but hopefully the work I have done has kept my legs under me.

5) Ladies

Sea Otter is the one bike race where there are attractive women (sorry to offend any of you non-readers out there), and this fact is one of the sole reasons I love the event. The pits are always buzzing, and amongst the buzz are a few gems cruising around. This year it’s no holds barred, I’m going all out. Gonna get my holla on. I’ll be sure and snap some pics.

6) The Team

Sea Otter is always great because it’s usually the first time of the year when the whole team reunites. The hatred flows like water amongst our group, and surly this year will be no exception. Kreger is staying at home for reasons undisclosed (lameness) and Moga is sticking around to take care of new Baby Moga, but the rest of us getting back together is sure to be a good time.

That’s really about it. Those are the good things about Sea Otter. Everything else (course, organizers, lines, etc) sucks, but I’m down to make the most of it. I’ll snap some pics and update when I can.

As the weather warms up and the skirts start showing up it gets exponentially more difficult for me to get anything done. I’ve locked myself in my room for the past three hours to make an attempt at studying Advertising and Promotion Management material, and it’s just not happening. I’ll throw up some useless blog post instead that no one’s going to read anyway.

Been listening to this a lot lately.

Oh yeah, and this:

New MGMT. WOOO!!!! Stoked for the early leak. Super weird video, pretty weird album, awesome band.

Alright, back to the books.

Scratching the Surface

This looks like it’s going to be super dope. Soundtrack is solid, trailer footage is sick, and Red Bull + Quicksilver usually results in a bad ass film (That’s It, That’s All). Check out the trailer for Scratching the Surface:

2 Posts, 1 day. Now that’s nasty.

What a weekend it was for TheFunFactory. Great ski day, great day of DH, and a relaxing day of soaking it all in. Justin Barcia took the Lights class win in Toronto, which was rad. The kid is an absolute pinner. Ragged.

——————

Our boy Kevin from Lethal Descent came by TheFunFactory house yesterday. They’ve got some big plans for the next year, so keep an eye out. LETHAL DESCENT.

——————

If you haven’t seen this yet, check it out. Lots of good acts, and some interesting commentary from some people who know their shit.

Another trailer here at Hypebeast.

——————-

This week holds some wild times for TheFunFactory crew:

-Wednesday: St. Patty’s. Time to get green.

-Thursday: Beginning of Spring Break, so we are absolutely throwing down

-Friday: Moto day. Cracking the 250 open again. Vampire Weekend concert in Denver.

-Saturday: Ski day. Shredding Keystone’s park one last time before leaving town. Passion Pit concert in Denver.

-Sunday: Ski day. Hitting up Vail with some lovely ladies.

-Monday: Off to San Diego for the ultimate in spring time relaxation.

All these good times to come are making school damn near impossible right now.

All for now. More later.

The Life

This week has been just ridiculously good for the TheFunFactory. We’ve had awesome test scores come in, an absolutely wild night Thursday, a great day of skiing Friday with a perfect crew, and a chilled out evening Friday night. Tim DJ’d a rager at SAE last evening, which means bankroll and bitches. Today, I’ll be shredding bici’s, Adam’s doing something lame and Tim is sleeping off a two day hang over. Tomorrow, moto at Milikin hopefully, followed up by some serious studying of THE LAW.

Ski, Ride, Moto all in a row. This is the life for me.

——————-

This song has just been perfectly synced with my mood lately. And the video is pretty out there.

Yeasayer- Ambling Alp

I know it’s been around for a bit now, but I’m still rocking it, so the blog is too.

All for now. Time to ride.
