The first AMA Motocross National of 2010 took place this weekend at Hangtown, and rookie Eli Tomac took the 250 win going 3/1. Tomac is the son of mountain biking legend John Tomac, who absolutely dominated the sport back in the day. Pretty impressive Eli can come out and win his first ever pro race, and at 17 and hailng from the great state of Colorado, it’s impossible not to root for this kid.
Both the 250 and 450 outdoors should provide some entertaining racing this year. All for now.

Had an awesome day of riding today with A-Licks Vidal and Powler Monkey. We took some pics. Here they are:
The preseason riding has been awesome here in the CO. We’ve had a great crew and have been putting up some good laps.
All for now.

I have recently come down with a nasty bug and am pretty much reduced to bed rest for the next couple of days. That, combined with the concoction of narcotics I’ve been prescribed, has led me to be the most unproductive human being in recent history. But, I’ve had some ample interneting time. Here’s a new music video from The XX.

This morning we received confirmation that Keith Elam, better known as Guru, lost his battle with cancer last night at age 43. Sorely missed, but never forgotten. Blast Gangstarr all day.

Sea Otter is over, and I’ll have some shitty write up in the near future (probably not). But while I’m sitting here in San Jose International Airport I have been blessed with a pleaseant surprise. Broken Social Scene has begun streaming their entire new album, entitled ‘Forgiveness Rock Record,’ free and legally through NPR. Check it out here. Seriously do yourself a favor and give this album a thorough listening. It’s amazing.
Back to Boulder today, thank God. Sea Otter was fun, but I’m ready to be home and see my peps.
All for now, more later. But seriously, listen to Broken Social Scene.

Alright, so Chiddy Bang has been absolutelyyyy killing it lately. Almost going a little overboard with the indie/electronic/hip hop mixes but they are so spot on its hard to hate. Favorite mixtape as of right now- Air Swell. Get it here, just put in your email address.
Here’s a taste:

This year at the ol’ Sea Otter Classic Im looking forward to a number of things. They are:
1) Racing Slalom
I’ve never raced Sea Otter slalom, but I’ve always enjoyed spectating. This year I’m looking to get in on the action and slam some gates. The slalom track is looking pretty good too. Check it here:
Vital MTB Sea Otter Slalom Preview
2) Calamari
My favorite thing about the Otter is all the disgusting food around the pits. Just a quick jaunt to the food court and it’s squid heaven. I’m going to try and limit myself to three baskets of deep fried cephalopod this year.

3) New bikes/Kits
Everyone comes to Sea Otter to show off their fancy new threads, and Team Sol Vista is no exception. Our bikes look amazing this year, and our kits are the best we’ve had yet. Nothing gets me more excited for the year than fresh gear. Pics of the team and the bike soon to come
4) Improvement
Pulling a good result at the Otter is tough as hell. Everyone who is anyone shows up for the event, and the track is a pedaling nightmare. The past two years my results steadily improved at the race, and I’m hoping to continue the trend this year. I haven’t had much time to train too hard with school and extracurricular activities lately, but hopefully the work I have done has kept my legs under me.
5) Ladies
Sea Otter is the one bike race where there are attractive women (sorry to offend any of you non-readers out there), and this fact is one of the sole reasons I love the event. The pits are always buzzing, and amongst the buzz are a few gems cruising around. This year it’s no holds barred, I’m going all out. Gonna get my holla on. I’ll be sure and snap some pics.
6) The Team
Sea Otter is always great because it’s usually the first time of the year when the whole team reunites. The hatred flows like water amongst our group, and surly this year will be no exception. Kreger is staying at home for reasons undisclosed (lameness) and Moga is sticking around to take care of new Baby Moga, but the rest of us getting back together is sure to be a good time.
That’s really about it. Those are the good things about Sea Otter. Everything else (course, organizers, lines, etc) sucks, but I’m down to make the most of it. I’ll snap some pics and update when I can.
All for now
